LECTURE
Week 7
Central theme
What is the theme of the story. It is the main idea or potential significance. Usually, this is the storyteller's personal opinion on the theme. A story may have both main melody and sub melody.
theme
Ideas intertwined and repeated throughout the narrative.
Small theme
An idea that looks more subtle and does not necessarily repeat.
conflict
Conflict is the driving force of the story. This is what creates tension and builds suspense, which is what makes a story interesting. If there is no conflict, the audience will not care, and there will be no fascinating story to tell. Conflict is something that attracts the audience. That's why they sit by their seats and wait impatiently for the hero to overcome the obstacles.
Three curtain structure
The three act story structure divides a story into three different parts, each anchored around one or more plot points that drive the whole action. In these three acts, a complete story unfolds.
Week 10
at all times
Blinking or blinking between a few seconds of a movie can be used to slow down and draw actions. Overuse of it will make comics boring and difficult to draw and read.
Action to action
Less elaborate time to time sliced versions usually focus on major events. Or move from one panel to another, and within a larger time interval.
Subject to
Switch between relevant moments, but focus on different topics in the same scene. Think about a conversation in a restaurant, or turn your attention to another actor in the scene.
Scene-to-scene
A series of events that happen in one location, and continuous period of time. A change of location or significant jump in time between panels is considered the end of a scene and the start of a new one.
Aspect to aspect
This can be an interesting way to jump through the scene, capture key details, or focus on miracles. This is also a good way to introduce readers to their environment, although players may stare at them or make them a little curious about players.
Rolling transition
Transition from one group or idea to the next. Capture motion in space. The group that breaks the "blink" mode tells stories to the group's comics in favor of smoother things. Fuse and blend the images together instead of treating the panel sink as a separate graphic element. Overlap and interleave.
